MEET THE TEAM

 

The food & beverage team comprise Chef lecturers and Food service lecturing staff. As well as teaching the practical skills they must aslo develop the student's skills in the theory of the service, to ensure they understand the whole picture of running a restaurant.

 

Staff who teach in this area will have had years of  industrial experience  in a variety of sectors and establishments.

Anne Miller

HOSPITALITY FOOD SERVICE LECTURER

Anne has worked at the college for several years, as well as food service skills Anne teaches on alcoholic beverages and wine courses. Before teaching here Anne taught Hospitality in a college in Australia.

Mandy Hayward

​HOSPITALITY FOOD SERVICE LECTURER

Mandy teaches food service as well as several other hospitality and event related topics. She has extensive experience and  works in  industry regularly.

Gail Miller

​HOSPITALITY FOOD SERVICE LECTURER

Gail , a  Lecturer in the Hospitality Team, teaches food service as well as several other hospitality and event related topics. She has extensive experience including a period in first class hotels as well as sales and marketing.

Gary Maclean

CHEF LECTURER

Previously Group executive chef of two of the largest hospitality companies in Scotland, The G1 Group and The Buzzworks Group.

Past Executive Chef of Glasgow museums and is a member of Master Chefs of Great Britain. City of Glasgow College Culinary team captain winner of Brakes Students Challenge 2015 winner of Future Talent Restaurant 2013 finalist in Nestle Toque d’Or 2013,15, 16 winner in 2014!  Future chef National finalist and  managied  the team who are representing Scotland and won the Nations Cup in Michigan USA  2013 & 14.

 

Alastair Macleod

CHEF LECTURER

Alasdair has been a Senior Lecturer for many years and also has the responsibilty of supporting the NQ catering and hospitality skills and bakery courses at the college.

 

John Mair

CHEF LECTURER

John has been a Lecturer for many years and has a passion for food. He loves to travel the world in search of new ideas.

 

Tommy Brunton

CHEF LECTURER

Tommy has been a Senior Lecturer for many years and also has the responsibilty of supporting the tudents on the NC professional cookery level 6 courses. He trained at the Turnberry Hotel in Ayrshire.

Darlene Young

​HOSPITALITY FOOD SERVICE LECTURER

Darlene , a Curriculum Head, teaches food service as well as several other hospitality related subjects. She has extensive industry experience. Darlene is the Course Leader for HND Hospitality 2nd years as well as the Napier BA Hospitality Management programme.

 Lilias Wotherspoon & Deborah  Osbeck

ADMIN ASSISTANTS

Deborah and Lilias have been supporting Scholars administratively for many years. Our database of guests hear from them twice a year with our mailshots and their busiest time of the year is the day we start to accept Christmas bookings , as our Christmas co-ordinaors. When the restaurant is closed the bookings are taken by them.

Robbie Phillips

CHEF LECTURER

Robbie has been a Lecturer for several  years and has a passion for food. He was recently the head chef at Stravaigan in Glasgow
